Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure used to treat unsightly spider veins on the legs. A small amount of solution, called sclerosing solution, is injected into a small vein. The solution causes irritation to the wall of the vein, and results in eventual sealing and healing of the vein. Several safe FDA approved solutions are available for use in the United States.
